NYSNA ScholarshipsMemorial Trust Fund Scholarship Due on or before July 1steach yearNew York School Nutrition Association Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship awards are made available each year to applicants who are active members of the NYSNA. The purpose of this scholarship is to help defray the cost of improving the recipient's present job performance or career status in school food service. Whether in the early years of a promising career or a more tenured position, ongoing professional development is necessary to hone skills and maintaining cutting edge creativity. Everyone benefits from advanced training and development opportunities. Yet, not everyone works for a district that can afford to fund certification opportunities for their employees. The scholarship award may be used for graduate or undergraduate courses. The recipient need not be working toward a degree. The award may be used for local non-credit secondary or adult education courses. The Awards and Scholarship Committee may also approve the use of the awards to attend training workshops and/or courses designed to enhances the recipient's current job knowledge or facilitate their advancement in School Food Service. This award highlights an individual that has gone the extra mile and has the spirit of service and passion to make a difference. Farm to School Partnership AwardDue on or before July 1steach yearDid you know that NYSNA has a partnership with the NY Department of Agriculture and Markets? One of the exciting programs is the annual Farm to School Partnership Awards. This award highlights exemplary farm to school projects across New York State. Applications are reviewed by the New York School Nutrition Association and New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets. Up to four awards will be selected each year to receive this prestigious award at the New York School Nutrition Association Legislative Action Conference. One complimentary dinner meal and plaque will be given per winning application. Ideas for projects include: merchandising/promoting local foods, working with local farms, building partnerships and integrating farm to school into wellness activities, and distribution: finding creative ways to get or receive local farm products.
