SNIC Meet the SpeakersCody Bloomfield, (she/they) Afterschool and Summer Meals Specialist at Hunger Solutions New York Cody Bloomfield is the Summer and Afterschool Meals Specialist at Hunger Solutions New York. Cody focuses on supporting outreach and providing technical assistance for the Summer Food Service Program, Summer EBT and the At-Risk Afterschool Meal component of CACFP. Cody’s extensive experience in farming and food service ultimately served as the levers that guided her to policy work. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Community and Human Services and is a recent graduate of the University of Albany’s Emerging Non-Profit Leadership Accelerator Program. Dan Giusti CEO & Founder, Brigaid Growing up in a food-loving Italian family inspired Dan to attend the Culinary Institute of America in New York. He quickly rose through the culinary ranks, serving as Executive Chef of 1789 in Washington, D.C. and Head Chef of Noma in Copenhagen. After three years in the latter role, he returned to the United States to tackle another culinary challenge: school food. In 2016, he founded Brigaid, assembling a team of professional chefs who were eager to apply their culinary expertise to improve the offerings and quality of school food service programs. Today, Brigaid’s work has expanded to senior centers and a prison. It remains guided by Dan’s belief that everyone deserves nourishing food, cooked with care and passion Frank Palmo Food Distribution Administrator 1, Office of General Services Frank Palmo is the Food Distribution Administrator overseeing the day-to-day administration of USDA Foods in schools and childcares for New York State. He has worked for New York State for about seven years for agencies such as Department of Motor Vehicle, Office of the State Comptroller, New York State Insurance Fund, and Office of General Services. In his free time, he enjoys hiking in the Adirondacks and Catskills, true crime podcasts, traveling, learning new things, and coffee. Jose Quinones National School Business Development, J.T.M Food Group Jose Quinones joined J.T.M. Food Group in February of 2012 as the National Business Development Manager. In his travels, he supports SNA members across the country and instills in them passion for what they do. Jose has a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Florida. Joshua Miller Founder & Consultant, Remarkable Academic Foods Joshua first embarked on his culinary journey that began at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, where he excelled and earned his Bachelor's degree in Culinary Management. This foundation, coupled with his drive for continuous education, propelled him to the role of a company-wide Culinary Director for a prominent foodservice contractor. He’s a Certified Professional in Food Safety and a Certified AllerTrainer for gluten and food allergy training. Fueled by his passion to think outside of the box for the right solution instead of corporate-approved solutions, Joshua founded Remarkable Academic Foods to be an independent resource for all school foodservice programs. His leadership in this exciting adventure is born from a mix of childhood school lunch memories and corporate experiences. Kim Perone, MA, CLC, CWMF Performance & Wellbeing Coach/Consultant Kim works with individuals and organizations offering a coaching form of employee assistance and training programs. This compassionate coaching, which meets individuals where they are and teaches essential skills for today, supports leaders, teams, and families to grow and thrive. Specializing in burnout recovery, stress reduction, mindfulness, work life balance, bereavement, resilience, and authentic success, Kim is a Certified Life Coach, with an Master’s degree in Organizational Communication, Certified Workplace Mindfulness Facilitator (CWMF), author, podcaster, and speaker. Kimberly Vumbaco, MBA Director, Child Nutrition Program Administration at New York State Education Department Kimberly Vumbaco is a Director in the Child Nutrition Program Administration office at the New York State Education Department. Kimberly assists in the development of policies and procedures and the coordination of oversight of the federal Child Nutrition Programs to maintain the fiscal and nutritional integrity of these programs that provide healthy free or low-cost meals to New York State children. Kimberly holds degrees in Hotel and Restaurant Management and a Masters in Business Administration. Liz Lucas, (she/her) Program Manager at No Kid Hungry New York Liz Lucas is the Program Manager for No Kid Hungry New York. With a focus on breakfast and summer meals, Liz works closely with schools and community organizations across the state, providing technical support, professional resources, strategic grant funding, and networking opportunities. Liz started her career as a middle school teacher where she saw firsthand the need for programs to help children have regular access to meals. Prior to joining No Kid Hungry in 2022, Liz spent nearly 7 years at FeedMore WNY where she focused on growing and strengthening the organization’s food bank, meals on wheels, and workforce development programs.
