What is NYSNA's Legislative Agenda

Ask #1: Allow school districts that participated in Summer Food Service Program during the emergency pandemic period to qualify for the 30% Farm to School meal incentive

We are asking that school food service programs that participated in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) during the emergency pandemic period be able to qualify and receive the increased reimbursement of .25 per lunch for the Farm to School Lunch Incentive. The incentive was established in 2017 and is available to schools that source 30% of their lunch food from local farmers, growers, and producers. Because this funding is contingent upon participation in the National School Lunch Program - and the Summer Food Service Program is not tied to the National School Lunch Program - those programs participating in the SFSP do not qualify for the incentive, even though they have made the necessary investments to reach the 30%.

Ask #2: Educate Legislators about NYSNA
There are so many new faces joining the senate and assembly this year and we want to make sure that they all know about NYSNA!  We want to tell them who we are and what we do and give them background about our previous initiatives.
